A century of camp

Love the photos and footage in this 7-minute tribute to the American Camp Association’s 100-year anniversary. I think it pretty much sums up why summer camps continue to play such an important and valuable role in my life even as an adult.

The time I spent at St. Mary’s in Ohio, Northeast Camp in Maryland, Boy Scout camp and Delanco Camp in New Jersey and Camp Innabah in Pennsylvania as a camper and volunteer staff member really have shaped the person I am today.

To me it’s anything but cliche or propaganda to say that summer camps build confidence, self esteem and an appreciation for the beauty of nature and friendship like few other places or programs ever have and ever will.
