I regularly check the Web sites of churches located in Southern New Jersey for a Web site I help maintain called South Jersey Christian Events so I’m regularly confronted with the horrors of poor Web site maintenance. Usually I just shrug it off, but when I see Christmas Eve worship services being advertised prominently on the front pages of several churches as I did today I start to get upset.
It’s almost February. That tells me that there is nothing going on at the church and that anyone who happened to be visiting out of obligation or family tradition on Christmas Eve has no reason to return again until you update your Web site advertising Easter worship services in April.
As a co-worker of mine likes to say, your horribly outdated Web site is only a confirmation that there is nothing there for people who attend worship on Christmas, Easter and when their relatives are baptized.
